Jeremy’s background is far from the assumptions circulating online. He didn’t grow up in an affluent household, nor does he belong to an “Ah Sia Kia” (ASK – Term used to refer kids with wealthy or influential parents). He grew up in a modest Housing and Development Board (HDB) flat. For non-Singaporean readers, HDB flats are the backbone of Singapore’s public housing system, providing affordable, well-planned homes for ~80% of Singapore residents.
Like other Singaporeans, he loves the flavours of the local coffee shops and hawker centres scattered around the neighbourhood. He’s your regular Singaporean dude who loves his kopi at the corner coffee shop and can’t resist a good plate of char kway teow or a bowl of bak chor mee at the hawker centre.
In his earlier years, Jeremy worked as a piano teacher who faced financial strain when his students intake falls short. He was always stressing over bills, just like the rest of us. When his teaching earnings could no longer sustain his expanding family, he had to supplement his income by becoming a private-hire car driver (PHV), often driving more than 10 hours per day. Balancing both jobs were demanding, exhausting and un-glamorous, nevertheless it allowed him to bring food to the table and keep his household afloat.
Driven by the urge to get out of this tiring loop of inconsistent income, Jeremy began searching for new ways to attain passive income and eventually financial freedom.
This long journey started off with miserable returns and over the time, he built it up to comfortably support his family, able to travel for months without worrying about bills and his collection of cars. He owns a Ferrari 636, Toyota Land Cruiser LC300, Mercedes E300 Cabriolet and a Suzuki Every 660CC Kei van.
